ESE PROGRAMS AND SERVICES
Pasco County Schools ESE Programs and Services information
Land O’ Lakes offers a comprehensive program of services for exceptional students. The Exceptional Student Education (ESE) programs available include:
Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) – Also offered at every school
Physically Impaired (PI) – Mainstream only
Visually Impaired (VI) – Also offered at every school
Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) – Also offered at every school
Emotional Behavior Disorders (EBD) – Land O’ Lakes HS
Speech and Language – Also offered at every school
Each student has a Transition Individual Educational Plan (TIEP). The TIEP will call for the student to graduate with a regular high school diploma, a special diploma, or a certificate of completion because it operates under the premise that ESE students are entitled to an outcome-oriented individual plan designed to facilitate movement from the school setting to community living. An additional function of the TIEP is to define a career focus for each student. A range of services is available for ESE students, including self-contained ESE settings, co-teach classes with both an ESE and a basic teacher, and mainstream consult assistance for students who need only limited assistance through the school day. Parents and students should check with the ESE program teacher to help determine the setting most appropriate for each subject.
