Once again we are proud to announce that Land O’ Lakes High School is listed as one of America’s Most Challenging High Schools by The Washington Post. The national school listing for 2014 was released on April 7, 2014. According to their website, “America’s Most Challenging High Schools ranks schools through an index formula that’s a simple ratio: the number of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and Advanced International Certificate of Education tests given at a school each year, divided by the number of seniors who graduated that year. A ratio of 1.000 means the school had as many tests as graduates.” Our school’s index continues to increase, meaning that each school year more of our students are engaging in rigorous courses preparing them for college, career, and life. There are over 20,000 secondary schools in the United States with approximately 2,000 qualifying for recognition by The Washington Post. This places Land O’ Lakes High School in the top one half of one percent of all high schools in the nation! This year’s ranking lists LOLHS 20th in Florida, 63rd in the South, and 114th in the nation.
