Student Book Bags / End-of-Year Announcement
Students may not bring book bags or anything similar to school on Monday June 3 and Tuesday June 4. In addition, we take a zero-tolerance approach to contraband (confetti, shaving cream, etc.) during the final days of school. Please continue to make good decisions so that we have a successful end to the school year.
Hallway Lockers
Lockers need to be cleaned out prior to the last day of school. Students should keep the lock secured on the locker when they are done using it for the year. If the combination lock is missing, students will be charged a replacement fee. After June 4, all items that remain in the locker are going to be thrown away. We appreciate your assistance!
LOLHS Gators Athletic Foundation Dinner
Just 20 tickets remain!!!
Thanks to the efforts of several prominent LOLHS alumni, there is a new foundation forming that will provide support to our athletic programs while also recognizing the past acheivements of athletes, coaches and/or administrators. Attached is information about the Inaugural LOLHS Gators Athletic Foundation Hall of Fame Induction Dinner that is scheduled for May 28, 2013 at 5:30PM in the Academy of Culinary Arts. The keynote speaker for the event is former Tampa Bay Buccaneer Derrick Brooks.
Disaster Relief Fund
You can help people affected by disasters by making a donation to support American Red Cross Disaster Relief. Your donation can be directed towards the efforts in Oklahoma. Our thoughts and prays go out to the victims of this week’s tragedy.

April and May Students of the Month
Congratulations to THOMAS GUGLIELMELLO and RACHAEL ARNHOLZ for being selected our school’s Student of the Month for April and May. They were nominated by a teacher and then selected by our staff as a student representive who excells in the areas of citizenship, scholarship, and leadership.
Senior recognition
Angela Taveras, pictured with Principal Ric Mellin, is a LOLHS Class of 2013 graduate who achieved Cum Laude academic recognition. Angela attended the Celebration of Excellence Awards Night last week and we missed the opportunity to recognize her for academic excellence. Congratulations to Angela and all of the other outstanding students!
Darryus Lowe wins state competition
Culinary arts student Darryus Lowe was awarded his prizes for winning the 2013 Let’s Do Gourmet High School Recipe Challenge on Friday, May 17. The competition was sponsored by the Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association Education Foundation and Let’s Do Gourmet, LLC. The attached file provides more information about the competition.
