Tests to Take by Grade Level

Freshmen Year

Fall Semester:

  • PSAT- Sign up if you are currently in Geometry and planning to go to a college/ university after graduation

Spring Semester:

  • FCAT- as a practice for the 10th grade test
  • AP Exams- given in May if you are currently taking an Advanced Placement course

Sophomore Year

Fall Semester:

  • ACT/PLAN- given to all sophomores as practice for college admissions and as a career interest inventory to explore future careers
  • PSAT- a practice test for the SAT, college admission test

Spring Semester:

  • FCAT Writing
  • FCAT 2.0
  • SAT or ACT- college admission tests to get a baseline score for remediation OR to use for college admission/scholarships
  • AP Exams in May for students enrolled in Advanced Placement courses

Junior Year

Fall Semester:

  • FCAT Reading Retakes for new students or students who need passing scores for graduation
  • PSAT- qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship Program and practice for the college admission test

Spring Semester:

  • FCAT Retakes if needed
  • ACT and/or SAT testing for college admission and scholarship programs
  • AP/IB Exams- given in May for students enrolled in Advanced Placement and/or IB courses

Senior Year

Fall Semester:

  • FCAT Retakes if needed
  • ACT/ SAT- final testing for scholarship programs. Check which exam you did better on with the ACT-SAT Concordance and retake the exam you did better on to try to improve those scores.  It is not necessary to retake both exams.

Spring Semester:

  • FCAT Retakes if necessary
  • AP/IB Exams- given in May to students enrolled in Advanced Placement and/or IB courses
